Ogof Draenen Galeria Garimpeiros trip 26/01/2020

Unless otherwise stated, camera, setups, lighting, edits and gallery effects by Tarquin. Modelling and lighting at various points will be Peter Wilton-Jones and Hannah Sheridan.

  1. Crawling through the muddy puddle just inside the entrance. This was the entire cave back when it was first discovered. Modelling by Hannah, lighting by Tarquin and Hannah
  2. Two scaffolded climbs were completely excavated down through the choked floor. Modelling by Hannah, lighting by Tarquin and Hannah
  3. Trying to levitate over the puddle. This was the site of the original gate, and you would have to lie in the puddle to unlock it. The camera is in the first piece of open passage that was discovered, not much of a reward for the digging effort. Modelling by Hannah, lighting by Tarquin and Hannah
  4. Gilwern Passage. After passing the formations, the comfortable floor ends, and it reverts to the typical Draenen boulder hopping. Modelling by Hannah and Peter, lighting by Tarquin, Hannah and Peter
  5. Crossing a wedged boulder Modelling by Hannah and Peter's gloves, lighting by Tarquin, Hannah and Peter
  6. Gilwern Passage. The walls are still coated in gypsum formations. Modelling by Hannah and Peter, lighting by Tarquin, Hannah and Peter
  7. Selenite crystals.
  8. Crawl under the choke at the end of Gilwern Passage. The planks help you to pretend that you can stay dry. Modelling by Hannah, lighting by Tarquin and Hannah
  9. The squeeze into Galeria Garimpeiros. Modelling by Hannah, lighting by Tarquin and Hannah
  10. The start of Forever Changed, before it gains the mud floored streamway. Modelling by Hannah and Peter, lighting by Tarquin, Hannah and Peter
  11. Curtain in Forever Changed.
  12. Straws just before The Guardian. Lighting by Tarquin and Peter
  13. Passing The Guardian - the large stalagmite beside the distant caver. The mud it sits on is can be eroded by passing cavers, so ripples need to be minimised when approaching it. Modelling by Hannah, lighting by Tarquin and Hannah
  14. Meandering path between the straws. Modelling by Hannah and Peter, lighting by Tarquin, Hannah and Peter
  15. Straws. Modelling by Hannah and Peter, lighting by Tarquin, Hannah and Peter
  16. Junction of the Forever Changed inlet (behind the camera), the Hearts Of Olden Glory inlet (ahead-right) and Y Gwter Fawr streamway heading downstream (ahead-left). Y Gwter Fawr quickly ends at Brownout on Breadfruit Boulevard, a very aqueous crawl of 20 metres. Modelling by Hannah and Peter, lighting by Tarquin, Hannah and Peter
  17. Column in Sons Of The Pioneers. Modelling by Peter, lighting by Tarquin and Peter
  18. Layers of ancient stal formations.
  19. Cracked mud in Sons Of The Pioneers, at the junction with The Green Grovel.

  21. Flowstone and curtains.
  22. Another World. Modelling by Hannah, lighting by Tarquin, Hannah and Peter
  23. Another World. Peter and I continued to check out Indigo Rift, before we all headed back to surface.
