This gallery contains pictures of various caves, where I do not have enough to deserve a dedicated gallery for that cave. If I get more pictures for some of them, I may move them into their own gallery.
This is a compliment to Steve's gallery (which shows some of the stunning formations in the cave).
I cannot be certain, but these appear to be pictures of Agen Allwedd. The pictures probably date from the 1980s.
Chartists Cave is only half a kilometre in length, with some large complex passages. For a while in 1839, its entrance porch and passage was used as a hiding place by the leaders of the Chartists uprising. They chose it, not because of its comfortable and spacious interior, but because of its obscure location. It is miles from anywhere, in the middle of a wide moorland, without any proper landmarks, and is difficult to find, even when you know where it is, and have been there before. It is even possible to miss the entrance when standing just a few metres from it.
