Area summary
Ireland is a bit difficult to generalise, given that it is such a large area. It has many areas both on and off-road for cycling. Roads sometimes have extra space for slow vehicles that can be used by bikes. Mountains are often either boggy or too steep/scrambly for cycling, but there are enough around that some should be good enough. Plenty of areas have lakeside tracks or paths that can be used. Note, however, that there is no such thing as a public right of way or bridleway; all off-road cycling will take place on someone else's land, and they may or may not be happy about that.
