Ogof Ffynnon Ddu round trip 29/01/2022

Unless otherwise stated, camera, setups, lighting, edits and gallery effects by Tarquin. Modelling and lighting at various points will be Steph Andrews.

This was Steph's first trip, and of course, the default choice is OFD. Being used to the mountains, the Edward's Shortcut traverses were deemed possible, and trip was also extended to a lengthy (for a novice) 5.5 hours. Since I have plenty of other galleries covering parts of the route we took, I will keep this gallery brief, showing some of the less photographed sections.

  1. Top Entrance Modelling by Steph, lighting by Sol
  2. The early grotto that looks like teeth and mushroom clouds. Modelling by Steph, lighting by Tarquin and Steph
  3. One of the slippery climbs in Edward's Shortcut. This is one of the climbs up over fallen slabs, not the main climb down. Modelling by Steph, lighting by Tarquin and Steph
  4. These climbs can prove challenging for all cavers, as they have no holds, and rely on strategic wedging. Something novices generally have not learned yet. At least there is a bypass. Modelling by Steph, lighting by Tarquin and Steph
  5. For the sake of safety, a traverse line was used over the main traverse. Someone has, in the past, made an unscheduled visit to the bottom, without significant injury. We did not need to risk a repeat. Modelling by Steph, lighting by Tarquin and Steph
  6. Over the deepest part, which is 18 metres deep. Modelling by Steph, lighting by Tarquin and Steph
  7. A stalagmite in Selenite Tunnel. There is nothing unusual or remarkable about this stal. Move along, folks, move along.
  8. Honey coloured stal in Cross Rift. Modelling by Steph
  9. The Judge, where there is a small paddling pool in front, which can be used for diving lessons. Modelling by Steph, lighting by Tarquin and Steph
  10. Traversing along the ledges in Salubrious Passage. Modelling by Steph, lighting by Tarquin and Steph
  11. Grotto in the passage linking Gnome Passage and Big Chamber Near The Entrance.
  12. Descending to The Mini-Columns in White Arch Series. Modelling by Steph, lighting by Tarquin and Steph
