Directions

From Cardiff, take the M4 to junction 49, the end of the M4. From there, take the A48 to Camarthen. From Camarthen, take the A40 towards Fishguard. Follow it for a very long way to the Narberth roundabout, then take the third turnoff (right) onto the A487, signposted to Cardigan. After passing through Crymych and Blaenffos, turn left onto the B4332, signposted to Eglwyswrw. At the end of the road, turn left on the A487 towards Fishguard. Follow it to Newport/Trefdraeth. From Newport/Trefdraeth, take the first right, signposted to Newport Beach. Some way after crossing the river, take the first proper left, signposted to the beach. Follow it to the beach parking area. SN 0546 4053.

Route

If the tide is out far enough, walk out onto the beach, and head along it to the right below the cliffs to reach the waterfall. A simple scramble up the right side of the waterfall reaches the coastal path, which can be followed to the right back to the parking area. If the tide is not out far enough to walk along the beach, follow the coastal path away from Newport to arrive at the stream. The waterfall is just downstream.

The coastal path may be used to extend the walk in either direction, and it is possible to use it to walk to or from Newport. It is also possible to walk the coastal path all the way past Newport to reach the Aber Fforest bay and waterfall, but the distance is too far for many walkers to complete there-and-back within a day.
