Conwy Tal-y-Bont waterfall walk

Including Afon Dulyn Waterfall.

Ability requirements (key)

Directions

From Cardiff, take the A470 to Llanrwst. From Llanrwst, turn left onto the B5106, signposted to Trefriw. Follow it to Tal-y-Bont. At Tal-y-Bont, take the first road to the left (immediately before the turning for Llanbedr-y-Cenin), which becomes a characteristic mountain lane. The lane climbs very steeply indeed, with several zigzags. After 0.8 miles, park on the sharpest and steepest bend to the left inside the forest, where there is a grit bin and a gateway. SH 7586 6845.

Route

Go through the gate on the bend and follow the sloping path down to the river. Ford the river (not possible in flood conditions), then head upstream along the far bank to reach the waterfall. Although there are many paths in the surrounding area, none of the rights of way extend to this path, so return the same way.
