Including Pistyll Gwyn - Nant Llyn-du.
From Cardiff, take the A470 past Dolgellau and Ganllwyd, and up into the flat valley where the road runs straight for several miles. After passing a lay-by with a phone box on the right, take the next lane on the left, which soon passes through a gate - don't worry, this is a public road. Stay with it as it winds its way towards the Rhinogydd mountains for 2 miles to a parking area beyond another gate. SH 6842 3020.
Two tracks lead off from the parking area. Take the track to the right, and follow it past a side track on the right to arrive at a farm. At the far end of the field beyond the farm, turn right onto a smaller path, following signs for a waterfall. This picks up the stream and follows it up to the 4 metre Pistyll Gwyn after about 800 metres. Immediately upstream is a smaller, rocky cascade. Staying near the stream, the path reaches a track after 200 metres. (On the other side of the track, a path leads up to The Roman Steps, a medieval stepped path over the Rhinogydd.)
Turn right on the track, and follow it in a 3 km loop to the right, passing a couple of side tracks, to arrive at a junction with the farm track from the start of the walk. Turn left to arrive back at the parking area.
