Including Clydach Falls.
From Cardiff, take the M4 to junction 43, and take the A465 to the right towards Merthyr Tydfil. Take the third exit (the first is only a services), signposted to Pontardawe on the A474. At the roundabout, take the first turnoff (left). At the next roundabout, take the second turnoff, signposted to Neath Abbey on the A4230. At the double mini-roundabout, turn right onto Longford Road. Continue ahead at the next mini-roundabout, passing through the old ironworks, and reaching a section with trees on the right. Park at a point where there is a lay-by on the right, and a footpath starting by a set of fences. SS 7369 9807.
Take the path down to the river. The waterfall lies almost immediately downstream, with a weir on top of it, and the remains of a water-wheel's foundations below. Follow the path downstream, past a weir, to the ironworks. A path branches up to the right, while one continuing ahead leads to the rest of the ironworks site. After visiting the ironworks, take the path that branched up to the right, to rejoin the road. For additional interest, turn left and head down the road to the double mini-roundabout, and continue ahead-left to reach Neath Abbey (the abbey, not the town). Head back up the roads to the start of the walk.
