Topping out

An aven topping out, with no way on. Enterprise Aven, Pwll Dwfn.

Used in the context of bolting or scaling an aven, this refers to reaching the top of the aven. The aven is said to have topped out, such as topping out at 53 metres above the base. In most cases, this term would be used for an aven that does not have a way on at the top.
